The name of the file by default when downloaded is "steam_b", and I have not made any changes to it at all. I installed via the right click menu while selecting the Steam application from the downloads directory.

I did all the possible updates with Ubuntu, and I downloaded steam via the Native File here from Steam for Ubuntu. I just installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64Bit yesterday shortly after I installed Steam. #DOWNLOAD UBUNTU 16.04 FIX ELISION INSTALL#
I do not wish to install PlayOnLinux or WINE, and prefer to use the native installer for Linux. No issues with my hardware & all my updates (Ubuntu & Otherwise) have been downloaded & installed.Īny help would be greatly appreciated, and before anyone asks no I am not native to Linux, and have been around Microsoft Dos, and Windows many years. I never get any error messages or any other indications that an error has occurred, just flashes the icon, then closes.

I have uninstalled, deleted all files associated with Steam, and even tried reinstalling with no luck. I have also read many Ask Ubuntu questions as well none of which have yet to help me.įresh install = The steam icon appears on the side bar & flashes a few times then disappears.Īfter deleting the file (libstdc++.so.6) as suggested at = I am able to run the updates, then after they are done steam does the same thing as before. I have read other threads here already so I could make sure there was not already a fix to the problem in which I am facing with getting Steam to install, run, update, and launch.
